"Vaiva Lina" is a one of kind vessel that has been loved and cared for her entire life. This vessel is perfectly outfitted to see all that Hawaii has to offer above water and below. Her owner is an avid sailor and diver and has mounted a custom dive compressor to the bow. She's turn key and ready for blue-water exploration.
The Downeaster 38 is a larger boat than its overall length would indicate since the waterline length is 29 feet and the beam is nearly 12 feet. A ballast displacement ratio of 41 percent, together with the large beam, means that the 38 will stay on her feet despite the shoal draft of just under five feet. She's a cutter rig well proportioned and easy to manage. "Vaiva Lina" is a stout blue water cruising sailboat. It is solidly built and rigged for cruising. It was designed by Henry Morschladt, a specialist in designing boats for long-distance sailing. Constructed and assembled at Downeaster Yachts Inc. of Santa Ana, California, over three hundred of this model were built. Designed for full time live aboard and cruising, many of features that are considered optional extras on other boats, were included in the design and construction of this model.
