For transient vessels, the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor does not require a deposit. However, transient berths are on a first-come, first-serve basis without reservations.
For permanent tenants, there is an active waitlist to obtain a berth. Permanent slips are non-transferable. You can sign up for two waitlists by filling out the Mooring, Residency, and Waitlist Rules Acknowledgement documents, including payment for each application: $15 for residents or $100 for non-residents, made payable to “DLNR - Boating”.
You will also need to include proof of residency, such as all four pages of your N11 Hawaii Resident Income Tax return (2019 or 2018), or a copy of a postcard for registered voters or a certificate showing you are a registered voter. Redact the SSNs, dollar amounts, and account info on the tax return.
The vessel categories are 18’ – 24’, 24’ – 35’, and 36’ – 45’. For multi-hull vessels, add that detail to the category.
The current waitlist times for the two most popular categories are: Class C (35’-45’) 3-6 years, Class D (45’-55’) 2-5 years. Temporary slips are available, and electric is $1.32/day approximately.
